KANATA BEAVERBROOK COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION (KBCA)

The KBCA is a non-profit, volunteer community organization, working to make Beaverbrook a great place to live. We run a successful door-to-door membership drive each September. Last year, 70% of the homes canvassed joined KBCA. The 2007 membership fee is only $10.00 per household. This small fee helps support a wide range of community initiatives.

  • Representing Beaverbrook at the City of Ottawa on planning and other issues affecting Beaverbrook, including:
    • ongoing discussions with the Mayor's office to preserve community distinctiveness
    • ongoing communication with Marianne Wilkinson, City of Ottawa Councillor for Kanata North, (who is a longtime Beaverbrook resident and a former KBCA president)
  • Management of the Beaverbrook Community Centre and three outdoor skating rinks
  • Organizing "The Great Beaverbrook Clean-Up Day and Community Picnic" in May, which attracts over 200 residents, keeps our parks free of trash, and builds community spirit
  • Caring for the two Beaverbrook entrance gardens, since the City no longer does so. (Last year, the KBCA enhanced our landscaping at our main entrance to Beaverbrook at Teron Rd. and Campeau Dr.)
  • Informative monthly meetings at the Beaverbrook Community Centre, featuring guest speakers and open discussions on topical local issues, such as policing, schools, safety and traffic
  • Maintaining our own website, beaverbrook-kanata.ca to keep residents up-to-date on local issues and providing handy links to other community-related sites
  • Financing for Beaverbrook groups, including Scouts, Guides, various school activities, Kanata Youth Centre, Kanata Food Cupboard, and the Community Resource Centre
